Guides

The tools on this site are small and single-purpose. These pages are the reference material around them: the numbers a platform actually documents, the arithmetic behind a print size, and the sequencing that decides whether a batch of photos is usable.

Where a figure comes from a platform's own documentation, the page says so and links to it. Where it is arithmetic or a technical property rather than a policy, the page says that instead. Neither is a substitute for the platform's current help pages, which change without notice.

Marketplace rules

Etsy listing images: what the rules actually say

The 2000 px recommendation against the 635 px floor for the first photo, the five accepted formats, why transparent PNG turns black, and the 1 MB upload caveat.

Image and title limits across marketplaces

A comparison table for Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, Shopify, Google Shopping and the large Asian platforms, with the reasoning behind each recommended export size.

Resolution and format

What 300 dpi actually means

Why dpi is a printing instruction rather than a quality score, the millimetre-to-pixel arithmetic, and why editing the dpi tag changes nothing about the image.

WebP vs JPG vs PNG: which should you use?

What each format is good at, and which one a marketplace upload form expects.

Working at volume

Processing 200 photos without 200 clicks

The order of operations that keeps a batch sharp, why browser tabs stall on large batches, and a one-minute check that catches the files that went wrong.

File naming conventions that stay sorted

Zero-padding, separators, and the naming pattern bulk-upload tools expect.

Privacy

What your photo file says about you

EXIF, GPS coordinates and camera serial numbers — what travels with a photo, and which parts survive an upload.

Every tool guide

Each tool has a companion page that goes deeper than the tool itself: what the output is good for, which choice to make, and where the limits are.

If a number on any of these pages disagrees with the platform's own help centre, the platform is right and the page needs updating. Corrections are welcome through the contact page.
